Thanks to Sonic Vision, if you’ve got exactly four cards in your hand, then Yanmega (and Yanmega BREAK) can attack for free. The old Yanmega Prime, while not exactly the same, was a force to be reckoned with back in the day, which is why we’ve got our eye on this new version.
Unlike Volcanion, Yanmega does have a bit of history backing it up. With Blacksmith rotating out of Standard Format after Worlds, now is the time to finally put those underused Fire support cards to good use.Īgain, Volcanion is brand new, so it’s hard to say if people will show up with something so untested against the current meta, but it has the potential to burn up the competition. Yveltal has long been praised for its Darkness Blade attack that recycles one energy, but Volcanion’s Power Heater recycles TWO for the same cost! With a Volcanion in the Active position, you can use two benched Volcanion-EX to discard two Fire Energy and give a +60 attack boost, attack for 80 damage for one Fire Energy, and then attach those two Fire Energy to your Volcanion-EXs. They're unproven in the current meta, but we’re going to highlight them because they have the potential to shake things up and take players by surprise. Aqua Box uses the speed of Max Elixir and the impressive variety of Water-type Pokemon to make a flexible, consistent deck that has many routes to victory.
